Sept 2016 - Visit to Rome and Bracciano

Our party left on the 11th September flying from Leeds Bradford to Rome, where they stayed in the San Remo Hotel, Via Massimo D'Azeglio, a central point allowing easy walking access to most of the great sites of the City. Visits were made to the Colleseum, Forum, Palatine, Pantheon, Castel San Angelo, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican and to many of the wonderful churches and museums. We thoroughly enjoyed lively evening meals in the numerous restaurants which provided us with a great variety of good food and drink. Outings were made to the Lido and Old Port of the City, and on Thursday to our Friendship Town of Bracciano, where we met the Mayor and local dignitaries in the Town Hall. He welcomed us on only his second day in office since his election and said that he wanted to strengthen links between our towns and provided a number of contact details to allow progress to be made. Hommersknott Badminton Club are already planning to visit Bracciano and other Italian venues next Spring.
