June-2023 Mülheim citizens visit North East

On 24th June 32 citizens from Muelheim arrived at North Shields on the ferry from Amsterdam. They spent the early part of the day in Newcastle before travelling to the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick wher they would spend 3 days. In northumberland they visited Lindidfarne, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Cragside Hall and Alnwick before setting out for Darlington on Wednesday for 3 days at the Kings Mercure Hotel. Wednesday evening they enjoyed a great meal at Redworth Hall followed by drinks at the Red Lion opposite the hotel. Thursday morning they visited the Mayor in the Town Hall and in the afternoon the Hippodrome Theatre where they enjoyed a tour followed by HIgh Tea. A great evening was then spent at the Darlington Quoit Club, the oldest in the world dating back to 1846. This was a fabulous evening with everyone taking part in Ladies and Gents competitions followed by food and drinks gifted by our Association. Friday they went to Killhope Wheel and the Dales rounded off by dinner at Headlam Hall. We waved goodbye to our friends on Saturday morning for time in York before boarding the Hull to Rotterdam overnight ferry and then on to Home. A great visit worthy of our 70th anniversary year.
